About the Reviewer

My name is Megan and I have been crafting since I can remember. My special love is jewelry making in all its forms, but I enjoy crafting of all sorts, whether its making a corn husk doll, sewing Japanese Omiyage, knitting yet another scarf, or fusing a glass bowl – it’s all a good time to me!
I spend most of my crafting time beading and glass fusing these days. However, I’ve tried polymer clay, silver clay, chain maille, lampwork (which I want to do more of as soon as I find an appropriate space for a torch setup), fiber arts, and more. I still need to give resin a try and some of the wonderful paper art jewelry I’ve been seeing has me curious about that as well.

When I see something beautiful I just can’t help but want to give it a try myself!

Thankfully, I’m married to a very supportive (not to mention tolerant!) man who doesn’t mind putting up with the various projects I have going or the clutter it can make in certian corners of our home.

I recently completed my Masters in Library and Information Science which is pretty exciting. My studies focused on the Organization of Information. I was lucky enough to intern in the Chicago Public Library Catalog Unit and currently to be working with Hope Olson on a project looking at classification schemes that should result in a few articles.  While in school I took a Collections Management course. For the final project I evaluated the beading resources at the Allen County Public Library.  I had the oppurtunity to handle a lot of beading resources, evaluate which were the most useful and to which users, and give some thought to what the collection was missing.  It was a great exercise and I discovered some excellent (and a few awful) beading resources in the process.  That project, and my participation in SLA’s “23 Things,” served as an inspiration for starting this site.

I’m regularly on the Beaders Showcase and attend One Heart Jewelry Meetups at the Happy Beadium here in Chicago.

You can check our my retail site, Be Bold Jewelry, for fused glass and beaded necklaces here.
